On October 24, the People's Committee of Dak Nong province reported on the socio-economic situation, national defense and security in the first 9 months of 2024 and directions and tasks for the last 3 months of 2024.
Over the past 9 months, Dak Nong has faced drought, prolonged heat, and lack of water for production, causing serious damage to agricultural production and people's lives.
According to statistics, about 8,800 hectares of crops were affected, with total damage of more than 430 billion VND. In addition, since the beginning of the year, the province has experienced 9 more natural disasters, causing additional damage of more than 11 billion VND.
Mr. Le Trong Yen - Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee said that in the past 2 years, the locality has suffered a lot of damage caused by natural disasters.
In 2023, natural disasters caused more than 1,000 billion VND in damage to the locality. After that, the Provincial People's Committee reported and requested and received 230 billion VND from the Central Government.
For damage in 2024, the locality has arranged funding to support farmers affected by drought and water shortage.
In addition, the province has proposed that the Central Government support about 377 billion VND from the budget to overcome the consequences.
