Mid-Autumn Festival special rainy season
SOS Children's Village Hai Phong is currently home to more than 100 orphaned children and children in special circumstances in Hai Phong City.
On the morning of September 16, speaking with Lao Dong, a representative of the SOS Children's Village Hai Phong said that after storm No. 3 landed in Hai Phong, the Village was also affected in terms of facilities, including 160 square meters of the western fence collapsed, and 30% of the roof tiles of the Village's communal house were blown away... However, the staff, mothers, and children of the village were all safe during the storm, and life returned to normal.
Due to the impact of storms and also following the general direction of the city, this year, the Village will not organize a Mid-Autumn Festival activity for the children. Instead, each house (12 houses) will organize appropriate activities for the children to have a happy Mid-Autumn Festival.
Ms. Phan Thi Hien - Head of Hai Duong House - said: Every year, the children have fun and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival at home with lion dances and partying. After that, the whole village gathers at each house to party and have fun. The Mid-Autumn atmosphere at SOS Children's Village Hai Phong is extremely bustling, filled with laughter.
In Hai Duong's house, which "mother" Hien is in charge of, 7/8 of Hien's children are children. Hearing the sound of the lion drum, the children are excited, running after the group to cheer. Little Pham Binh Minh (7 years old, joined the village at the age of 5) excitedly said: "I really like watching the lion dance, I also like the glowing lanterns...".
Bringing a warm Mid-Autumn Festival to children
This year, due to the current situation, the Village will not organize Mid-Autumn Festival activities, so Ms. Hien and the mothers in the Children's Village will display the tray of offerings on the porch on the evening of the full moon, decorated with lanterns, star lanterns...
"These are all gifts that organizations and individuals have come to visit and give to the children over the past few days. Hopefully, with the family's Mid-Autumn Festival tray, the children will still feel the joy and happiness of the Mid-Autumn Festival" - "mother" Phan Thi Hien said.
Regarding the organization of Mid-Autumn Festival for children, the People's Committee of Hai Phong City has just given its opinion on not organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival program for children at the city level. At the same time, it directs the city's departments, branches, unions, and People's Committees of districts to pay attention to organizing Mid-Autumn Festival activities in 2024 for children in a suitable manner on the basis of ensuring safety, economy, substance, and no ostentation or formality, especially in areas affected by storm No. 3 and floods and natural disasters after the storm.
Units absolutely must not organize events that gather a large number of children and people. Instead, they can organize them online, on television, and send gifts to the children (if possible). Programs, activities, events, and Mid-Autumn Festivals need to be shortened, with fewer performances; priority given to giving Mid-Autumn gifts to children in special circumstances, children from poor households, near-poor households, orphans, and children affected by natural disasters, storms, and floods.
