On August 1st, the preliminary round of Miss Vietnam 2026 Southern region took place in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting nearly 100 contestants from many provinces and cities.
Candidates take turns completing registration procedures, measuring anthropometrics and participating in closed interviews. The judges evaluate contestants based on many criteria such as natural beauty, physique, demeanor, communication ability, thinking, education, aptitude and motivation to participate in the competition.
At the end of the selection round, 21 Southern contestants won the right to enter the national final round, including Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, Nguyen Thi Kim Chau, Gouband Lisa, Vo Thi Men, Nguyen Thai Anh Thu, Nguyen Hong Ha Nghi, Dinh Hoang Gia Linh, Dinh Dieu Anh, Neang Lin, Trinh Ngoc Huyen, Truong Van Tu Tam, Luu Phuong Anh, Van Ha Phuong Nhi, Nguyen Phuong Nghi, Le Phuong Nghi, Cao Tran Tu Anh, Nguyen Ngoc Thao Nguyen, Vu Lam Bao Chi, Doan Hai Lan, Nguyen Thi Hoa and Mai Thi Yen Nhi.
These contestants will meet with 35 faces selected in the Northern preliminary round, bringing the total number of candidates participating in the final round to 56 people.
According to the Organizing Committee, anthropometrics and closed interviews are two important contents in the evaluation process. The contest continues to promote natural beauty, respect the uniqueness and diversity of Vietnamese women, and maintain the regulation not to accept contestants who have had cosmetic surgery.
In the interview, the girls introduce themselves, their families, hometown, studies, work and plans if they continue to accompany the competition. Some contestants show talent in dancing, singing, presentation or communicating in foreign languages.
The candidate pool in the South this year is quite diverse, including students, international students, flight attendants, pharmacists and people with master's degrees. Many people have notable academic and foreign language achievements.
The judges of the Southern preliminary round included director Le Thien Vien, designer Le Thanh Hoa, actor Hua Vi Van, MC Le Dieu Minh, singer Ai Phuong and Miss Vietnam 2024 Ha Truc Linh.
With the theme "Land of Fragrance and Beauty", Miss Vietnam 2026 continues to aim for four core values including beauty, culture, intelligence and dedication.
