Women making films" is a series of podcasts produced by Mai Thanh Ha focusing on exploiting the story of the profession, creative journey and perspective of women in the field of cinema.
In the first episode, director Dang Thai Huyen - one of the few female directors pursuing war and historical films - recounted the journey of making the film "Red Rain", a film that made a strong impression at the box office in 2025. The female director said that this is a large-scale project, the first time she has worked with such a large amount of equipment and settings. Coordinating equipment, ensuring safety for actors in fire and explosion scenes or staging large scenes on the river are all memorable challenges.
According to Dang Thai Huyen, the large scene on the river is the most complex segment due to constantly changing flow conditions, different actors' physical strength and high technical requirements. She also emphasized the role of artistic, content and military advisors in helping the crew complete difficult scenes. After this project, the female director said that she had accumulated valuable experience for later war films.

The conversation also expanded to Dang Thai Huyen's professional views. She said that she is always steadfast in political - historical films, considering cinema as a way to dialogue with society and history, and at the same time wants to tell war stories from a humanistic perspective, putting people at the center.
