On the evening of October 18, Hoang Dung revealed the MV La ban. Hoang Dung shared that the inspiration for composing the song La ban came after the male singer completed the Yen project: “The song La ban comes from the feeling of suffocation and depression inside me and at that time, writing music made me feel better.
I went through a period of questioning myself, about the things around me, the future, what I should do and what everyone else was doing. When I wrote Compass, I felt like everything was against me - the thoughts in my head were not good, there was no light around me.
After the EP Yen project, I felt like I didn't want to write love songs anymore, there was still too much energy inside me that I couldn't release. I thought I would "go crazy" if I continued to write love songs".
Explaining his feelings of not wanting to write love songs, Hoang Dung confided: “I don’t like the fact that I’m happy in love but write a sad song. Since I decided to make music, although serving the audience is a given, at the same time, I want to put my own personal and inner feelings into the music.
Writing love songs is probably no longer enough for me to feel ‘satisfied’ to explore new limits of myself. I don’t want to pretend that I’m sad to continue writing a love song. I feel like I have other better experiences, besides love, to write music about.”
Hoang Dung revealed that he has planned something new on his artistic path in the near future: “I want to do something new, impressive and surprising. But to make sure that decision is right, I have to observe, ask for opinions, let everyone listen to music demos...”.
Completing the product Compass has "helped" the male singer a lot during a stressful period in his life: "Renewing myself is something that sooner or later I will have to conquer. The desire and urge to renew myself in me is enough for me to do this project. When I finished Compass, I felt much lighter, like I had passed a test."
