Kirk Alyn was the first actor to have the opportunity to portray Superman from comic books to the screen in 1948, through the films of the same name by Columbia Pictures. Although her body is not too broken, her intellectual appearance and performance style have helped Alyn successfully portray the image of Clark Kent.
Appearing in director Richard Donner's film Superman 1978 , Christopher Reeve brought a superhero who is both strong and humane. Reeve is not only suitable for appearance but also shows both aspects of the character excellently: a clumsy, gentle Clark Kent and a powerful, overwhelmingly optimistic Superman.
Smallville focuses on his daily life and relationships with Clark Kent, Lois Lane or his family, so this Superman image is not highly rated. However, Tom Welling is still loved for portraying a potential Clark Kent.
In Man of Steel 2013, Henry Cavill brought a new Superman - full of muscle, masculinity and a mix of strength and loneliness. Under the hands of director Zack Snyder, this version has a dark tone, different from the traditional optimistic image.
Cavill is also loved for his impressive acting and dedication to the role, making him one of the most beloved Supermanes to date.
David Corenswet is the next person to wear the red coat in the film Superman directed by James Gunn, scheduled to premiere in 2025. With a classic appearance, reminiscent of the 1950s Hollywood actor model, Corenswet is expected to recreate a Superman who is close, emotional but not lacking in strength.
James Gunn affirmed that he would bring a realistic tone, focusing on the character instead of the special effects or humorous elements. Although this is a risky step, Corenswet is expected to redefine Superman in a new way but still loyal to the original spirit.
