Artisan Truong Loc was taught how to make art by Meritorious Artist Truong Son

Although not standing on stage as a cai luong artist, artisan Truong Loc creates many props. He was taught how to make them by Meritorious Artist Truong Son.

Stage prop maker Truong Loc is the one who "magically" transforms many everyday objects into useful props on stage.

Appearing on the Multidimensional Glass program, artisan Truong Loc shared about his journey to the profession as well as the story behind the stage lights, especially the process of making performance props.

As the nephew of artist Truong Quang, Truong Loc inherited his family's passion for art from a young age.

At the age of 10, Truong Loc studied reformed opera at the Dong Au Bach Long troupe. However, because he had neither the voice nor the looks, Meritorious Artist Bach Long advised Truong Loc to choose another path related to art if he still loved this subject.

At that time, artist Truong Loc switched to studying stage prop making under the guidance of his uncle, Meritorious Artist Truong Son.

Meritorious Artist Truong Son did not directly teach artisan Truong Loc but told him to observe, learn and make his own products so he could give comments and suggestions.

Meritorious Artist Truong Son believes that if you teach a profession, it will never become a profession. Only with passion, practice, and listening to comments can you pursue it long-term.

Thanks to his passion and determination, artisan Truong Loc started making a wig for Meritorious Artist Truong Son to give his opinion. From then on, the male artisan gradually followed the profession of making stage props and followed his father to keep props for the Minh To ancient opera troupe at the age of 13.

At the age of 18, artist Truong Loc was officially accepted as an employee of the Minh To opera troupe and received a salary like everyone else.

Artisan Truong Loc always hones and develops his skills.

At the age of 28 - 29, artisan Truong Loc made the first pair of swords for Meritorious Artist Bach Long to perform in the play Trung Trac Trung Nhi, making the swords by hand, without the support of machines.

Gradually, the male artisan also made this prop for many other troupes. After that, artisan Truong Loc started making hats with paper material and completely by hand. Only later did he have more supporting tools and more designs.
