During the September 2nd holiday, "Summer Break Afraid of Retirement" continues to maintain its attraction at the box office. According to box office data, Huynh Lap's work has surpassed the revenue milestone of 150 billion VND after nearly two weeks of screening.
In the midst of the film continuing to sell tickets, the crew released a behind-the-scenes video of the process of making war scenes. This is an important part of the story, recreating the wartime memories of the characters.
To film these scenes, Huynh Lap said he asked for the connection of the "Sao Nhap Ngu" crew to work with the 429th Special Forces Brigade.
Previously, when participating in "Sao Nhap Ngu" in 2024, Huynh Lap shared his desire to make a movie with content related to the military. Two years later, this idea was included in "Summer vacation fears retirement".
War scenes were filmed at the training ground of the 429th Special Forces Brigade. According to the crew, the film crew used specialized equipment, live guns, air bullets and a programmed fire and explosion effect system.
Soldiers of the 429th Special Forces Brigade also directly participated in some scenes. Huynh Lap said that their advantages are their demeanor, technique and combat operations that have been trained, helping military segments limit the coercion in acting.
The film crew also received advice on military expertise, uniforms and soldier's demeanor. Major General Vu Quang Dao participated in the project as a historical advisor, supporting the crew from the script development stage to the filming process.
Huynh Lap said that recreating images related to war is a challenge for a private film crew. Therefore, the support of advisors and military units helps the crew review many details before bringing them to the screen.
Summer vacation fears retirement" belongs to the family genre, comedy mixed with spiritual elements, directed by Huynh Lap. The film officially premiered in theaters from August 21st and is one of the Vietnamese films competing for revenue during this year's National Day holiday.
