This year's Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival has the theme "Golden Silk - Weaving Aspiration", taking place from March 1st to 31st with a series of rich cultural and artistic activities.
One of the ambassadors this year is young Cai Luong artist Bien Thuy. Sharing about her new role, she said that becoming an ao dai ambassador is not a surprise but the result of a long journey attached to the stage and traditional culture.
Since I was a student stepping onto the stage, I have been familiar with the image of ao dai in competitions or performances. So when I was invited to be an ao dai ambassador, I felt this was a beautiful milestone in my career journey," Bien Thuy said.
After winning the Golden Rice Shoe in 2021 and becoming the champion of the 2024 Cai Luong Academy, the Gen Z female artist has many opportunities to participate in art programs with her teacher, artist Bach Tuyet. On those occasions, she often chooses ao dai as a familiar costume, expressing pride in traditional art.
According to Bien Thuy, ao dai and cai luong both carry the soul of national culture. Therefore, in art activities as well as on social networks, she always tries to introduce the image of ao dai in a way that is closer to young audiences. The designs she chooses are also diverse, from traditional to innovative, suitable for each different event.
The female artist also expressed her excitement when more and more men choose ao dai in cultural events. According to her, this shows that ao dai is not only a symbol of gentle beauty but also a costume that expresses the cultural pride of both men and women.
Also participating as ambassador, Miss International 2024 Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy believes that ao dai always brings a feeling of pride every time she puts it on. "Every time I wear ao dai, I clearly feel the elegant beauty of Vietnamese women. I hope that through the festival, the image of ao dai will continue to be widely promoted to international friends," she shared.
Miss Intercontinental 2022 Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc also believes that Ao Dai is a cultural symbol, capable of connecting tradition and modernity. According to her, the fact that designers create many new Ao Dai designs helps this outfit become closer to life.
Meanwhile, Miss Vietnam 2018 Tran Tieu Vy said that the Ao Dai festival is not only a fashion event but also an opportunity to honor cultural identity. "Every year I participate in the festival, I see Ao Dai becoming more and more diverse, from materials to designs, but still retaining the unique traditional features," she said.
Notably, the appearance of Miss Cosmo 2025 Yolina Lindquist in ao dai also created a strong impression on the public. The beauty said she especially likes the softness and sophistication of this outfit. "Ao dai brings a very formal but still gentle and elegant feeling. I think this is one of the most beautiful traditional costumes I have ever worn," Yolina shared.
The companionship of international artists, beauty queens and beauties is expected to contribute to helping the image of Vietnamese ao dai continue to spread strongly, not only domestically but also on international cultural stages.
