This is the sequel to the crime drama Detective Kien: The Unforgettable Project.
In addition to announcing a new film, writer Hong Thai released the novel "Phuc Gia Truyen", which is considered the main inspiration for this project.
Sharing about the creative process, Victor Vu said he did not want the second part to be just an "upgraded" version of the first part, but to aim for a new cinematic experience. When I read Phuc Gia Truyen, I was very inspired. The work is a large treasure trove of documents about the setting, characters and ideas, helping me find a suitable development line for the new story, he said.

Although inspired by Hong Thai's novel, the director said that the film only retains about 30% of the original material, the rest is built in the direction of independent creation to suit the cinematic structure. Writer Hong Thai shared that he completely supports the crew's approach: "Victor does not adapt originally but develops in its own way. That gives the work new vitality.
Actor Quoc Huy continues to play the role of detective Kien. He said that he was both pressured by the "gall" character, but believed that the second part would open up more screen time and psychological depth. At the event, Dinh Ngoc Diep revealed that the production process faced many challenges when the film had more than 60 different scenes, on a larger scale than the previous part, requiring preparation for a six-month preview.
The event also introduced the first poster with the image of Inspector Kien standing on the beach, watching the boat in the middle of the ocean - suggesting a new adventure journey for the character. The organizers also announced casting activities from November 26, 2025 to find more actors for the project.
According to the plan, the film "Detective Kien: The curse of Hoang Kim" will start filming in April 2026 and be released at the end of 2026.
