According to South Korean media, Yoo Ah In is being invited to play the main role in "Vampire" - the new film project of director Jang Jae Hyun, who is behind the success of the works "Mục sư", "Ngón tay thứ sáu" and especially "Exhuma".
The film belongs to the action - mystery genre, telling the story of a chase between a vampire hunter, a priest and people caught up in a war against supernatural forces. According to initial information, "Vampire" also has the participation of some Russian actors.
Accordingly, Yoo Ah In is invited to play a vampire hunter, while Lee Sung Min is negotiating to take on the role of a priest. Yoon Kyung Ho is also on the list of actors invited to participate in the project.
However, NEW - the film's investment and distribution unit - still maintains a cautious attitude. A company representative said: "Nothing has been confirmed yet. We are discussing with many actors, including the names that have been mentioned by the media. Detailed information will be announced after the selection process is completed.
Notably, this is not the first time there has been information that Yoo Ah In will participate in "Vampire". At the end of 2025, information appeared that the actor would participate in the project. However, at that time, director Jang Jae Hyun denied it, affirming that the script was not yet complete and he had never officially sent an invitation.
The director also revealed that he only contacted Yoo Ah In to ask about the situation after the actor temporarily stopped working.
If the selection is confirmed, "Vampire" will become Yoo Ah In's first acting project after nearly four years since he temporarily stopped operating due to a drug scandal in 2022.
According to the plan, the crew will soon enter the pre-production stage, and the filming process is expected to start as early as October this year.
