On the morning of May 24, the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An province held a workshop on "Solutions to make English the second language in schools" and launched "English Learning Month" in 2025 with the participation of nearly 1,000 teachers, students and representatives of foreign language centers.
According to the workshop introduction report, in the 2017 - 2025 period, English teaching and learning in Nghe An has achieved many positive results but still faced many difficulties: lack of foreign language classrooms, many old classrooms that did not meet the requirements of the new program, outdated teaching methods, theoretical assessment, lack of comprehensiveness in 4 skills.

Faced with that reality, the Nghe An education sector aims to build a dynamic bilingual English - Vietnamese education ecosystem in schools by 2035. English will be used regularly and naturally in teaching, administration, and communication at educational institutions.
To realize this goal, the Department of Education and Training has determined to comprehensively innovate policies from policy mechanisms to teaching methods, invest in facilities, improve team capacity, standardize assessment and testing according to international standards and apply technology, especially AI, in teaching and learning English.
One of the highlights of the workshop was the launch of the "English Self-study Month" in 2025 (taking place from June 1 to June 28), for all teachers and students of junior high school and high school in the province.
Accompanying the program, Atlantic Education Group and the FSEL online learning platform have given 400,000 free English learning accounts along with more than 1,520 gifts and prizes, with a total estimated value of VND580 million.
The self-study month will take place on the FSEL platform with online interactive lessons, integrated with AI to help personalize learning content according to qualifications. Students and teachers can access it with a computer, smartphone or tablet.
According to Prof. Dr. Thai Van Thanh - Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, this is one of the important efforts to improve English proficiency, serve the integration process, improve the quality of human resources and develop comprehensive education in the digital age.
