In the context of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics becoming the pillars of the new industrial revolution, in 2026, FPT University officially opened the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (UAV and Humanoid orientation) major under Information Technology.
FPT University said that the program aims to train a high-quality human resource team with in-depth knowledge of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence; capable of applying interdisciplinary knowledge to access, develop and apply smart robot and AI solutions in practice.
According to the IT human resource market report 2024 of ITviec/VietnamWorks, the demand for recruitment of engineer positions related to AI and Robots has recorded a breakthrough growth rate of up to 67%, expected to continue to maintain strong growth momentum in the period 2025-2026 due to the wave of investment in smart factories, UAVs, humanoid robots, self-driving cars... At the same time, the demand for AI human resource recruitment is forecast to continue to increase sharply in the coming time.
According to FPT University, the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (UAV and Humanoid orientation) major is built and designed according to a model combining academia and practice, in which students will participate in on-the-job training (OJT) to directly learn and work in a real environment before graduation. A noteworthy point is that the training program is built based on opinions on knowledge and professional skills from businesses, experts as well as professional organizations.
Students are equipped with core knowledge of the Information Technology industry along with technologies and methods of Robotics & AI, including robotics and control, artificial intelligence and machine learning, computer vision and robotic cognition, systems programming and embedded systems.
One of the differences of the major is the orientation of training according to advanced technology branches, in which UAVs and Humanoids stand out. The first is UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), which will focus on design, flight control, embedded systems and application of UAVs in practice. The second is Humanoids (human-shaped robots), focusing on developing robot systems capable of interacting and simulating human behavior.
In addition, students also have the opportunity to access other development directions such as industrial robots, self-driving cars, automation systems... through in-depth modules and projects. This approach helps learners not only excel in one field but also have the ability to adapt flexibly to many job positions in the 4.0 technology era.
FPT University added that, with a well-trained background, graduates can hold many positions such as Robot engineer, UAV & Drone AI engineer, Self-propelled Robot (AGV/ARM) engineer, AI & Robot engineer. In addition, learners can also become automation & control engineers or pursue in-depth research and teaching in the field of AI and Robotics.
