Retired staff, but experience and professional knowledge are still valuable.
The knowledge and experience of retirees are not only valuable assets for themselves, but also help organizations and businesses save on training costs and take advantage of high-quality human resources.
Talking to the writer, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Hong - Quality Management Specialist of Hospital 199, Ministry of Public Security, said: "I have worked for more than 25 years at Da Nang Oncology Hospital. After deciding to retire, I chose Hospital 199 to continue my professional work. Although it is developing here, there are still many things to improve and innovate. And I find my experience useful for my colleagues and for the unit."
Many retired cadres still have the mentality of dedicating themselves to their profession. In fact, many cadres and civil servants apply to work after retirement age because they feel responsible and passionate about contributing. Moreover, contributing to society makes these people feel that they are still valuable and respected. This is especially true in fields such as education, scientific research, healthcare, etc.

For example, Dr. Nguyen Huy Thong - former Director of Tay Giang District Medical Center, who retired after nearly 40 years of dedicated service to the health sector of Tay Giang mountainous district - Quang Nam province, was affectionately called by the people and compatriots as "the doctor of the Co Tu village". However, the concerns of the profession prompted him to present to the Board of Directors of Hospital 199 in Da Nang City and was approved by the unit's leaders, creating conditions for the excellent doctor to continue to contribute to the health sector.
Although there is no shortage, retirees still need financial stability.
Despite the pension system, the current pension level is unlikely to meet the basic needs of life in the context of increasing living costs. Not to mention that the financial needs of the elderly often increase when faced with medical and other health care costs.
In addition, working for retired cadres is also a desire to maintain health and spirit.
Statistics show that Vietnam has over 12.5 million elderly people, of which more than 6.5 million are directly involved in labor and production. Continuing to work after retirement age not only helps them have a stable source of income in old age and contribute, but also maintains a stable lifestyle, avoiding feelings of boredom and loneliness.
Scientific studies also show that maintaining moderate levels of physical activity helps the elderly maintain a clear mind, good memory, and prevent age-related diseases.
Fortunately, current Vietnamese law allows retired officials and civil servants to sign employment contracts with agencies and organizations if they have the need and meet health requirements, and the unit has a recruitment need. This policy not only helps older workers continue to “try out”… after retirement, but also provides them with more job opportunities.
Furthermore, organizations and businesses can also take advantage of experienced human resources. This is a positive point, helping to balance the labor force and maximize the exploitation of social human resources.
