The film is set before 1954 in Ha Dong province, when the French war in Northern Vietnam was gradually coming to an end.
The story revolves around the lives of the couple Dan (played by Truong Ngoc Anh) and Gu (played by Meritorious Artist Quoc Khanh), servants of a landlord who had to flee to the South to seek a peaceful life.
