Mr. D.Q.H, 93 years old, residing in Phu Lac commune, Thai Nguyen province, has just had surgery to successfully remove a soft tissue tumor in the right thigh area weighing up to 8.2 kg from doctors at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital. The surgery lasted 4 hours and helped her escape the "giant" tumor that caused many obstacles in her daily activities.
According to Mr. H's family, 13 years ago, he underwent a surgery for a tumor weighing more than 1kg in the same location. However, in the past 3 - 4 years, the tumor has recurred and developed abnormally quickly, making it difficult for her to move and do daily activities.
At Thai Nguyen Central Hospital, after interdisciplinary examination and consultation, the team of doctors at the Oncology and Anesthesia Resuscitation Center agreed on a surgical plan. The surgery lasted 4 hours, completely removing the tumor measuring 30x30x40cm and weighing more than 8kg.
After a day of surgery, the patient was conscious, in stable health and waiting for a sinhcast.
