Patient D.V.K, residing in Ganh Dau commune, Phu Quoc city (Kien Giang) was admitted to Kien Giang Oncology Hospital. The patient was examined and diagnosed with a tumor after peritoneum.
According to medical history, about 5 years ago, the patient underwent surgery for an abdominal tumor at another hospital for unknown diagnosis. For about a year now, the patient has had an enlarged belly. In particular, for about a month now, the patient has seen his belly grow very quickly, so he was admitted to Kien Giang Oncology Hospital.
After examination and paraclinical tests, the patient was diagnosed with a post-pericultural tumor, the tumor occupied almost the entire abdomen about 40x40cm, the limit was unclear and he was scheduled for surgery according to the program.
On March 31, the patient was operated on by a medical team and doctors from Kien Giang Oncology Hospital.
The surgery lasted 7 hours, the amount of blood was about 300ml, and the 8 kg, 40x40cm diameter peripheral tumor was successfully removed from the patient's body.
Dr. Ho Van Ut Muoi - Head of the Department of Cancer Surgery in Kien Giang Cancer Hospital, who directly operated the patient - shared: "The long surgery time, large tumors stick to the large blood vessels in the abdomen, so it requires the surgeon to accurately and meticulously in each operation to remove the tumor, avoid damage to blood vessels to ensure safety for patients".
After surgery, the patient's health is now recovering well, and is continuing to be monitored and treated, Dr. Muoi informed.
