On August 19th, Tra Vinh General Hospital said that on August 18th, the unit coordinated with People's Hospital 115 (HCMC) for consultation and surgery on 4 cases of orthopedic trauma. The cases include one case of right arm neural plexus injury and 3 cases of spinal cord tendon rupture.
Cases are assessed, treatment plans are agreed upon and coordinated at the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics, Department of Surgery - Anesthesia and Resuscitation, under the professional support of experts from People's Hospital 115.
BS.CKII Nguyen Cao Vien - Deputy Head of the Department of Orthopedic Trauma Surgery, People's Hospital 115 - said that microsurgery has many applications in treating complex lesions. In cases of limb amputation, early surgery helps increase the chance of limb preservation, avoiding wasting golden time when transferring.
According to BS.CKII Nguyen Cao Vien, reconstructive microsurgery is also applied in the treatment of neural plexus lesions, limb paralysis, restoration of lost body parts, post-operative support and cancer treatment. This technique helps expand the ability to treat complex lesions at local medical facilities.
BS.CKII Duong Thanh Binh - Head of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics, Tra Vinh General Hospital - said that receiving specialized techniques from People's Hospital 115 is implemented through training and direct practice, helping doctors gain more experience in handling similar cases.
Notably, the case of right arm neural plexus injury is the first microsurgery nerve transplant at Tra Vinh General Hospital. The local team directly performed the surgery under the supervision and professional support of experts from People's Hospital 115.
According to Tra Vinh General Hospital, the doctors of the unit were previously sent to People's Hospital 115 to study, access knowledge, instructions and techniques. After training, experts continue to directly support in Tra Vinh during the practical process on the actual case.
