What is gua sha?
According to Dr. Nivedita Dadu - dermatologist, founder of Dadu Medical Center, gua sha is a health care and beauty technique that uses specialized tools to strip or gently shave the skin surface in a certain direction. The purpose of this method is to stimulate blood circulation, promote lymphatic circulation, release muscle tension and support the elimination of toxins. In addition, it also helps tone, lift muscles and improve skin texture.
How to do it properly
- Wash your face, apply serum, oil or moisturizer to keep your skin smooth.
- Hold the tools so that the curves are close to the skin, the flat part is applied to the surface.
- Start from the neck point up to the jaw, repeat a few times on each side.
- This can be done in the morning to reduce eye bags or in the evening to relax facial muscles.
Notes when using
Gua sha is generally safe, but when shaved, it can cause bruising or light bleeding due to capillary rupture. These signs often disappear after a few days. For people with skin prone to acne, you should use creams or Serums instead of oils to avoid clogged pores.
frequency of recommendation
Depending on your skin condition, you can do gua sha about 3 times a week to see clear results.
