At the press conference announcing the program "For a Healthy Vietnam" on April 24, Prof. Dr. Phan Trong Lan - Director of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (Ministry of Health) said that from children born, young children, students, pregnant women, adults, workers to the elderly, each group has its own health needs, but all need to be placed in a unified approach like a continuous chain, connected, taking people as the central subject.
That is also the core spirit of preventive medicine. The greatest effect is not only in handling the disease well when it occurs, but more importantly in eliminating and preventing risks before the disease appears, reducing diseases before treatment, and helping people live healthier, longer, and with better quality.

We cannot wait until people get sick to intervene, but must start by keeping people healthy from when they are healthy; early detection of risks, early intervention, continuous health management, and improving the quality of life at each stage of life" - Prof. Dr. Phan Trong Lan emphasized.

This program is of great significance, contributing to promoting a suitable approach to health care in the current period. That is to strongly shift from a mindset focused on medical examination and treatment to proactive disease prevention; focusing on protecting, caring for and improving comprehensive and continuous health throughout the life cycle.
Mr. Lan expects this program to contribute to spreading correct knowledge, encouraging healthy behavior, and gradually forming an active health care culture in society.
The "For a Healthy Vietnam" program will implement a variety of activities throughout 2026 such as the official health information channel; a series of thematic seminars on universal health care; bringing health check-up, consultation and essential medicine distribution services to people in remote and isolated areas...
