The Central Tropical Diseases Hospital rescued a 15-year-old child in Hanoi who was in a deep coma, critically ill due to drowning causing cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest.

According to the person directly rescuing, G.B slipped and fell into a deep lake while fishing. When discovered and brought ashore, he fell into a coma, turned purple, stopped breathing and stopped circulating. People immediately performed on-site emergency cardiac resuscitation for about 5 minutes. After his heart beat again, the patient was urgently transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

In the Emergency Department, the patient was admitted to the hospital in a deep coma, Glasgow point only 5-6 points, pupils on both sides maximally dilated, light reflexes weak, lungs with many rales moist, limbs cold, abdominal distension. Faced with the critical condition, doctors quickly placed endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, intravenous fluids, warmed up and transferred directly to the Intensive Care Center for in-depth treatment. Due to the time of circulatory arrest not being clearly determined, the initial prognosis was very hesitant, but the team still made maximum efforts to seize the patient's life.

Master, Doctor Pham Van Phuc - Deputy Director of the Intensive Care Center said that the patient was admitted to the hospital in a state of severe respiratory failure, with a risk of serious brain damage. After 72 hours of intensive care, the patient was sedated to assess consciousness and recorded clear improvement. After 4 days of treatment, he was awake, recognized well when called, his health progressed smoothly and no neurological sequelae were detected.

Dr. Phuc emphasized that the first minutes after drowning are the "golden time" that determines the ability of the brain to survive and recover. Lack of brain oxygen in just 4-5 minutes can cause irreversible damage or death if not given timely and proper first aid. Therefore, when a child is found drowning in a coma, respiratory arrest, or cardiac arrest, it is necessary to immediately perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and quickly take them to the nearest medical facility.

It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
