On the morning of July 20, a 67-year-old man was saved spectacularly after a cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest at Tran Phu beach (at Tram Huong Tower, Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa).
The quick emergency, closely coordinated between the people and the 115 Emergency Team, was considered a "death victory" in just the golden seconds.
At around 7:30 a.m., victim T.V.Th (67 years old, residing in Khanh Hoa province) suddenly had difficulty breathing, turned purple and fell onto the sand after swimming in the sea.
The person who discovered and performed first aid was Mr. Tran Do Trong Dai - a security guard at Long Son Provincial General Hospital, currently working at Khanh Hoa General Hospital.
As soon as he noticed the victim stopping breathing, Mr. Dai immediately pressed his heart out of his chest and breathed artificially, and called 115 and turned on the loudspeaker to receive direct instructions from medical staff, mobilizing people to support.
Just 3 minutes later, the 115 emergency crew including Doctor Nguyen Tri Tam, nurse Truong Ly Huong Giang and driver Nguyen Tuan Thien Vu were present.
The victim was currently in a deep coma, Glasgow at 3 points, had no light reflex at the time, and was diagnosed with respiratory arrest suspected to be due to cardiovascular disease.
At the scene, the emergency team forced the heart out of the chest, placed an endotracheal tube, injected the ball with oxygen; injected Adrenaline through the endotracheal and vein.
After 10 minutes of resuscitation, the patient had a pulse back, a refractive aim aim and was urgently transferred to Khanh Hoa General Hospital.
At the Emergency Department, under the supervision of Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Tram and the Intensive Care - Anti-Poison team, the patient was alert, opened his eyes, had weak hand and foot movements, and exited a stable vital signs.
Currently, the patient continues to be monitored at the Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department.
Doctors said that timely first aid in the community is the decisive factor.
Without the proper intervention of Mr. Tran Do Trong Dai before the emergency team arrived, the victim would have a hard time recovering.
Khanh Hoa 115 Emergency Center recommends that each minute of delay when there is a cardiac arrest reduces the chance of survival by 7-10%. Just push your heart and suffocate properly, anyone can save a life.
In case they are not confident in doing it, people should immediately call 115, turn on the outside loudspeaker to receive detailed instructions step by step while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
