Stressful emergency care at night
The 32-year-old mother, residing in Ba Vi (Hanoi), was hospitalized in a state of bleeding after giving birth to her third child. Although he was treated for blood arrest at a lower-level hospital, the patient's condition did not improve. When transferred to Bach Mai Hospital, doctors quickly examined, tested and determined that the patient had blood loss and severe blood clotting disorder.
That same night, the surgical team of doctors in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department decided to completely remove the uterus to stop the bleeding, saving the patient's life. After surgery, the patient recovered well and was discharged from the hospital in a stable state of health.
MSc. Dr. Pham Tuan Linh - Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology - shared: The patient gave birth to a third child, the fetus was 3.7kg large, and the child gave birth quickly, so the cervix was torn complicatedly. When arriving at the hospital, the mother showed signs of blood clotting disorder, reduced albumin and prolonged fresh red bleeding. Luckily, by being transferred to Bach Mai Hospital in time, the patient avoided the risk of threatening his life".
Emergency emergency: When every second is precious
At the same time, the Obstetrics Department also admitted a 19-year-old patient from Thanh Hoa, 37 weeks pregnant, with severe preeclampsia and grade 3 kidney failure. Upon admission, the patient's blood pressure increased, both legs were swollen, the cervix was not open, but the fetal heart showed signs of dangerous decline.
Faced with the emergency, the doctors decided to perform cesarean section that night. The surgery was successful, the 3.4kg boy was born healthy. Meanwhile, the mother continues to receive interdisciplinary consultations to have a suitable treatment regimen for kidney failure.
Another case that has caused much concern is the 36-year-old pregnant woman from Quang Ninh, a IVF pregnancy of 28 weeks and 6 days. The patient had a history of preeclampsia from week 25, kidney failure from week 27 and recently had HELLP syndrome - a dangerous obstetric complication. When admitted to the hospital, the patient showed signs of fetal failure and acute kidney damage.
Immediately, the doctors prescribed emergency surgery. The 750g pregnant woman was transferred to the Pediatric Center for special care. Thanks to close monitoring and timely treatment, both mother and child survived.
HELLP syndrome - A Threat to Mothers and fetuses
HELLP syndrome (ctedeoeohanemia, hyperlipidemia, thrombocytopenic purpura) is a dangerous complication of preeclampsia, which can cause multiple organ failure, blood clotting disorder, organiological bleeding, premature birth or even death for both mother and fetus if not detected in time.
The case of a 36-year-old woman from Quang Ninh is a clear proof. Although the pregnancy had previously occurred normally, from only week 25, the patient began to experience serious complications. If not treated promptly, the risk of losing both mother and child is very high.
