The first case was Mr. N.V.S (61 years old) who was hospitalized after 30 minutes of experiencing severe chest pain spreading to the left shoulder, accompanied by shortness of breath and sweating. Although there was no underlying medical history, the patient had been smoking for many years. At the initial facility, he quickly fell into dangerous arrhythmia, low blood pressure and was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction with ventricular fibrillation complications. After electric shock and resuscitation, the patient was urgently transferred to Thu Duc General Hospital. Here, the intervention team successfully reopened the blocked coronary artery. After a week of treatment, the patient stabilized and was discharged from the hospital.
Next was the case of Mr. N.H. M (54 years old) admitted to the hospital in a state of severe chest pain, quickly falling into ventricular fibrillation, cardiac arrest. Thanks to timely emergency care, the patient was resuscitated after 10 minutes. Transferred to Thu Duc General Hospital in a coma, on a ventilator, the team determined that the anterior ventricular artery was completely blocked and proceeded to place a stent in just 30 minutes. After 24 hours, the patient was awake, discharged from the ventilator and recovered well after a week.
Most recently, on March 18, another female patient was also promptly intervened after experiencing severe chest pain. Thanks to rapid transfer and proper treatment, the blocked coronary artery was completely reconnected, the patient improved significantly and is expected to be discharged after 5 days.
According to BS.CKII Le Duy Lac - Head of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Department, Thu Duc General Hospital, acute myocardial infarction is a top emergency, every minute that passes causes myocardial necrosis. Complications such as heart shock, ventricular fibrillation or cardiac arrest can occur at any time, directly threatening the patient's life.
The reality of treatment shows that early diagnosis, correct initial treatment and timely hospital transfer play a decisive role in saving the patient's life. When the intervention system is quickly activated, the patient has the opportunity to be saved in time and reduce the risk of severe complications.
Doctors recommend that people need to have regular health check-ups to detect early cardiovascular risks. When signs such as chest pain, shortness of breath, and sweating appear, they should go to the nearest medical facility immediately. In cardiovascular emergency, every minute of delay can be a death.
