HCMC - On May 15, Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital (BVUB) marked the milestone of 40 years of development accompanying the city's health sector and the people.

Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital is the end-line hospital specializing in oncology. This place receives thousands of patients in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces every day.

Over the past 40 years, the hospital has been a solid support for patients who unfortunately suffered from serious cancer, severe cancer and had to be active. Present at the 40th anniversary of the founding of the hospital, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - said that in recent years, the hospital has made a great development step when put into use in establishment 2 in Thu Duc city with 1,000 spacious beds and modern and advanced equipment in the region, meeting better and better demand for medical examination and treatment.

Cancer is still one of the leading health burdens in Ho Chi Minh City, with the number of new cases continuously increasing. This requires the development and effective development of cancer prevention strategies, focusing on early detection and periodic screening. Therefore, the city has a vision to build a cancer and other non-communicable diseases screening center, including a center located at the Oncology Hospital in Binh Thanh District, aiming to reduce the incidence of new cases, improve prognosis and quality of life of patients.

Dr. Diep Bao Tuan - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital - added that in the operating plan of the Oncology Hospital in the coming years, the hospital will continue to develop in-depth techniques in radiotherapy, robotics and reconstructive surgery, applying new regimens of chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy; establish the Department of Surgery - Thoracic Surgery, Department of Rehabilitation - Traditional Medicine, the examination clinic of experts at facility 1 and facility 2, the clinical psychological consulting room, apply AI in X-ray diagnosis, in radiotherapy planning, in pathology diagnosis...

Also according to the plan in the period of 2026-2030, the Oncology Hospital will be invested in 5 projects: the new project to build a medical examination and screening center with high technology, 2.7 ha auxiliary construction projects, Proton radiotherapy construction center, Cyclottron furnace and 1 new radiation machine and investment project of medical equipment for establishments. The hospital and better serve cancer patients.
