New generation bio-compatible stent reduces cardiovascular complications

New generation bio-compatible stents significantly reduce cardiovascular complications compared to modern drug-based stents - Research published in EuroPCR 2025.

In recent years, cardiovascular disease, of which coronary artery, has been recorded as the leading cause of death in Vietnam with about 200,000 deaths each year.

People's doctor, Prof. Dr. Vo Thanh Nhan, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Interventional Cardiology Association, shared: "The current popular treatment method is to place stent to cover the coronary artery to re-open blood vessels, preventing heart attack. However, the latest generation of stent coating still has certain complication rates, due to the loss of its natural physiological properties. Therefore, bio-compatible stents have been studied for many years to solve this problem.

At the European Cardiovascular Conference of EuroPCR 2025, which took place in Paris, the medical technology research team from the United States, published a clinical research monitoring after 3 years of the new generation biological compatibility Dynamx Biotaptor. Information published in the context of Elixir Medical has just been Fast Company - a leading prestigious magazine in the US in the field of technology, design, AI and innovation - honored as one of the 10 most breakthrough medical equipment companies in the world in 2025.

At the conference in Paris, Professor Shigeru Saito, director of the cardiovascular and artery laboratory at Shonan Kamakura General Hospital, Japan, presented the results from the BioAdaptor RCT test, performing over 445 patients in 34 centers in Japan, Europe and New Zealand, showing that Dynamx BioAdaptor is superior to the Stent Medicine (DES). After three years, the RCT BioAdaptor research recorded the target damage rate (TLF) in the group of patients using Dynamx BioAdaptor at only 2.7%, significantly lower than 7.2% in the drug -covered stent group (DES). This difference corresponds to 63% reduction and shows that the stable treatment effect of stent biological compatibility Dynamx BioAdaptor in the long term.

Associate Professor, Dr. Huynh Van Thuong - former Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa General Hospital, explained the special operating mechanism of this type of stent: "A bio-compatible stent has special joints that separate automatically after 6 months, returning movement to the machlar walls. With the above feature, DynamX bioadaptor has the ability to support the restoration of physiological function of blood vessels, push back plaque and reduce the risk of long-term complications significantly. This is a revolutionary step forward in the treatment of coronary artery disease, opening up new hope for patients with more stable and long-term treatment results".

Dr. Ly Ich Trung - Head of Cardiovascular Intervention Department, Cho Ray Hospital, commented: "The results of the third year of research by DynamX bioadaptor prove that this technology reduces the risk of failure at the location of damage by 63% after 3 years, compared to drug- coated stent (DES). DynamX's unique bio-adjustment mechanism is also especially suitable for young patients - those who need flexible treatment solutions, with few complications and long-term effectiveness, thereby helping patients improve their quality of life".

In Vietnam, DynamX bioadaptor bio compared to Biometeor stent technology is being applied in many hospitals across the country, including central facilities such as Cho Ray Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute, as well as many large general hospitals in the locality such as Khanh Hoa General Hospital, Tra Vinh, and Can Tho Central Hospital.
