Winger Mykhailo Mudryk is now in his third season at Chelsea. The £89 million blockbuster was highly anticipated, especially when The Blues had to compete fiercely with Arsenal to get his signature in January 2023.
This season, Chelsea's attack is the second highest scorer in the Premier League, but the Ukrainian star has only started once and has yet to score. Most recently, in the match Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Nottingham, Mudryk had a chance to enter the field, but he still ran and lost the ball as a habit.
Former player Jason Cundy believes Mudryk needs to leave Chelsea, according to Metro: "There are always players like Mudryk, he is not effective at all. I think it is time for him to go out on loan. Chelsea has no place for him at the moment. Mudryk is behind Sancho, Neto, Noni Madueke and Joao Felix."
Cundy then went on to explain why Mudryk continues to disappoint. “He’s quick, but sometimes I feel like his feet are quicker than his brain, so he can’t adjust properly. He has great potential, but he keeps letting people down,” he said.
Coach Enzo Maresca also pointed out that Mudryk is too weak in decision making. He said: "For me, Mudryk's fault is not in his speed or technique, but in his decision making ability.
Sometimes he wants to do something different and make us lose the ball. But there are times when he needs to go past the opponent, that's the importance of decision-making. Hopefully we can help things improve."
