Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued Directive No. 04 on strengthening food safety management in food production and trading under the management responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in accordance with the model of local government at 2 levels in the city.
Accordingly, the leaders of the City People's Committee requested heads of departments, branches, sectors, chairmen of Commune People's Committees, wards and relevant agencies to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the instructions of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of state management in the context of transition to a two-level government model. At the same time, mobilize forces to proactively prevent and strictly handle food of unknown origin, poor quality, and violations of intellectual property, contributing to restoring order in management and protecting the legitimate rights of people and businesses.
The Department of Industry and Trade is assigned to preside over peak inspections, maintain regular inspections, focus on large consumer goods with high risk of counterfeiting such as vegetable oils, processed milk, candy, alcohol, soft drinks; strengthen food business management on digital platforms; coordinate with departments, branches, sectors and People's Committees of communes and wards to pilot the model "Safe residential areas - No counterfeit goods, no dirty foods".
The Department of Health, the City Police, the Department of Agriculture and Environment and related units will strengthen post-inspections, investigations, and handling of serious cases; publicly announce on mass media the list of organizations and individuals who violate to warn and deter.
The Directive also recommends that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City and mass organizations step up propaganda and community supervision; launch a movement against counterfeit goods and dirty food associated with major campaigns such as "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".
The City Military Command coordinated to patrol and control with the police force and Market Management. Enterprises proactively review the supply chain, build a traceability system, and closely coordinate with authorities when inspecting.
Can Tho City People's Committee requests departments, branches, People's Committees of communes and wards to periodically or suddenly report the results of combating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods to the Department of Industry and Trade for synthesis and submission to the Chairman of the City People's Committee. The results are for assessment, adjustment, and reward of outstanding collectives and individuals. At the same time, rectify, overcome limitations and shortcomings, strictly handle cadres, civil servants, organizations and individuals who are irresponsible, corrupt, negative, lax in leadership, direction, management, and violation of food safety management in food production and trading under the management responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
