According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ninh province, the last months of the year and the Lunar New Year are the time when consumer demand increases, posing a potential risk of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, poor quality goods and food safety violations.
Faced with that reality, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has proactively implemented many solutions to control the market and prevent violations.
Implementing the direction of the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Provincial People's Committee, Steering Committee 389 of Quang Ninh province and the Department of Industry and Trade have issued Plan No. 4201/KH-SCT dated November 5, 2025, opening a peak period of fighting against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods before, during and after the 2026 Binh Ngo Tet.
In the period from November 5, 2025 to January 23, 2026, the Market Management force of the whole province inspected and handled 250 cases, detected 311 administrative violations with a total amount of nearly 14 billion VND. In which, administrative fines were more than 6.46 billion VND; the value of goods forced to be destroyed was more than 6.85 billion VND; the value of goods sold for sale was more than 662 million VND.

The inspection work focuses on key items and areas, strictly handling acts of trading in prohibited goods, counterfeit goods, smuggled food, goods of unknown origin, food safety violations, especially at traditional markets and in the e-commerce environment.
During the peak period, the Market Management force presided over and coordinated with the Police and Customs to inspect and handle 57 cases, with a total fine of more than 1.45 billion VND; the value of destroyed goods is more than 1.3 billion VND; goods for auction are expected to be nearly 250 million VND.
Transferring 2 cases with signs of crime to procedural agencies for consideration and handling according to the provisions of law. The total number of cases that the procedural agency is considering and resolving is 4 cases.
In parallel with inspection and handling of violations, the Quang Ninh Department of Industry and Trade has implemented solutions to stabilize the market and ensure the supply of goods to serve Tet and the festival season.
During the Binh Ngo Tet 2026, the Industry and Trade sector directed to increase the supply capacity of goods by about 25%, with a total reserve value of over 1,500 billion VND, an increase of 20–30% compared to the same period last year. Vietnamese goods account for over 80% of the commodity structure.
