On the afternoon of January 12, leaders of Phu Quy Special Zone said that a transport ship had carried gasoline from Vung Tau port (Ho Chi Minh City) to supply to Phu Quy island after many days of rough seas.
According to information from the Binh Thuan Maritime Administration, the petroleum-carrying transport ship docked at Phu Quy port at about 3 pm on the same day.
Immediately after the ship docks, gasoline pumping and transfer work is urgently deployed to supply retail stores on the island. After that, gas stations on Phu Quy island will return to selling gasoline normally, meeting the travel, living and production needs of the people.

According to the Phu Quy Special Zone People's Committee, the ship carrying gasoline from Vung Tau to the island is a flexible solution in the context of strong sea conditions recently, making specialized transport ships unable to depart from Phan Thiet as usual.
It is expected that by January 14, there will be another ship carrying gasoline and oil to the island to supplement reserves, ensuring stable supply in the coming days.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, the influence of the Northeast monsoon caused large waves to last for many days, disrupting the transportation of gasoline and oil from the mainland to the island.
Gas stations on the island can only sell sparingly for a few days and then successively announce temporary gas outage. Meanwhile, the demand for buying gasoline to serve people's travel is still very large.

Faced with the above situation, local authorities have proactively borrowed temporary gasoline and oil reserves on the island to supply gas stations to sell to people.
Each person is only allowed to buy a maximum of 50,000 VND for gasoline, and at the same time, functional forces continuously advise not to store fuel to avoid the risk of fire and explosion safety and put pressure on supply.
Up to now, when the weather at sea has changed positively and the supply ship from Vung Tau has safely docked, the local gasoline and oil shortage situation on Phu Quy Island has basically been resolved.
Timely restoration of fuel supply not only helps stabilize people's lives but also ensures that socio-economic activities on the island return to normal operation.
