The Heart of Hue is the first collection that Duc Hung has made specifically about Hue, to honor the beauty of cultural heritage and people here. Purple was chosen as the main color, expressing elegance, gentleness and loyalty - values associated with the image of Hue women.
"I have been to Hue many times, and each time I bring a different feeling. But what makes me feel strong, makes me want to speak instead with the language of fashion, is the purple color - the color of Hue, the color of a land imbued with identity - Designer Duc Hung shared.
That is the purple color of the afternoons of the Huong River, of the Ao Dai of female students in Dong Khanh, of sim flowers, lentil flowers, and of the light purple sunlight that receives the bells of Thien Mu Pagoda. Purple is both gentle, arrogant, and gentle, but always makes people's hearts shake.
According to the designer, since the Nguyen Dynasty, purple has been used in royal costumes, symbolizing nobility, virtue, loyalty and noble spirit. Over time, that purple color left the royal palace and entered the lives of the people of Hue.
On the Vietnamese ao dai background - a symbol of softness, purity and charm, he chose to exploit traditional materials such as silk, velvet, brocade, taffta, net - each type of material is delicately processed to express the different shades of purple.
Nhung brings a charm and luxury. Silk evokes a soft, soaring look. Guom and taffta create noble and exotic accents - like the cultural layers woven from the past of the ancient capital.
In addition, the appearance of a breakout net creates contemporary breaths, inspiring an interweaving of the reserved, ancient beauty of Hue and the freedom and openness of today's generation. The details of fabric embellishment, flower arrangement, and sophisticated crust are meticulously hand-carried, sparkling on the background of the deep purple Hue, evoking the image of the hazy mist on Ngu Binh, the glowing sunlight on the Huong Giang River, or the royal Palace's color reflecting on the mossy tiled roof.
The designs are not tied in traditional mold, but are marked with modern shapes, sophisticated details and different material processing techniques. The collection brings together the nuances of the four seasons - spring, summer, autumn, winter - in each layer of material and purple light, like the endless rotation of time in the heart of Hue.
The collection carries the message of preserving Hue purple color, which is also to keep a part of Vietnamese soul. Because in that purple color there is loyalty, kindness and elegance - the qualities that make up the beauty of Vietnamese people.
