The United Nations Development Program and the Coca-Cola Foundation are stepping up efforts in nine Asian countries, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Maldives, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
This 3-year international program will help improve the efficiency of plastic waste management, promote recycling, and reduce plastic waste released into the environment.
By implementing and spreading optimal methods throughout the region, the program aims to promote changes in policies as well as community activities, aiming to reduce and completely eliminate single-use plastic, while improving the livelihoods of workers in the waste collection industry.
In addition to expanding successful initiatives, the program will focus on developing innovative business models in the field of waste collection and recycling, while providing in-depth consultation on the best environmental protection methods.
The program also applies advanced technologies to improve the efficiency of collection and recycling, with the goal of minimizing the amount of plastic waste discharged into the environment.
