On October 9, at the international exhibition specializing in livestock, animal feed, aquaculture and meat processing in Vietnam - Vietstock 2024, many experts and businesses from many countries promoted cooperation to promote the livestock and aquaculture industries.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development said that Vietnam's livestock industry has strongly transformed to concentrated and commodity livestock farming to ensure both farmers' livelihoods and social security.
At the same time, it makes important contributions to the development of agriculture in particular and the country's economy in general.
This exhibition not only provides an opportunity to display and introduce advanced products and technologies in the field of livestock farming, but also creates favorable conditions for businesses, researchers and experts in the industry to exchange, learn and share experiences through seminars.
This exhibition will take place concurrently with the Vietnam International Aquaculture Exhibition - Aquaculture Vietnam 2024, becoming a comprehensive destination covering the entire value chain of the livestock and aquaculture industry. The event is expected to attract more than 13,000 visitors from over 50 countries and regions.
One of the highlights of the exhibition is the Innovation and Creativity Pavilion, which showcases the best in aquaculture, animal health and animal nutrition. Visitors have the opportunity to experience first-hand the pioneering solutions and trends for the sustainable development of the industry.
Agriculture plays an important role and is a pillar of Vietnam's economy, playing a role in maintaining the country's solid food and food security, contributing to stabilizing Vietnam's macro-economy. Vietnam's agricultural sector achieved impressive growth in 2023, with an increase of 3.83%, the highest since 2019.
Accounting for more than 1/5 of the agricultural sector, Vietnam's livestock industry has made remarkable new strides in the context of technological development and international integration.
In 2023, the total output of the livestock industry will increase by 6.38% compared to 2022.
Pig farming ranks 6th in the world in terms of output, providing about 4.5 million tons of fresh meat. Poultry farming helps provide 2.3 million tons of fresh meat and 19.2 billion eggs.
Not only meeting domestic demand, Vietnam's livestock products are also exported with a total export value in 2023 reaching 515 million USD, an increase of 26.2% compared to 2022.
