16 Hai Duong prisoners receive amnesty from the President

Hai Duong - Hai Duong Provincial Police held a ceremony to announce the President's decision to pardon prisoners serving prison sentences who are eligible for pardon.

On October 1, Hai Duong Provincial Police held a ceremony to announce the President's decision to grant amnesty to prisoners serving prison sentences who are eligible for amnesty in 2024.

Attending the ceremony were Colonel Pham Chi Hieu, Deputy Director, Head of the Steering Committee on Amnesty in 2024 of the Provincial Police; Director of the Institute of the Provincial People's Procuracy Nguyen Hoang Duong; Deputy Head of the Democracy - Law Committee, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Pham Xuan Anh.

In the 2024 amnesty, Hai Duong has 16 prisoners serving their sentences at the Provincial Police Detention Center who have received amnesty decisions. These are prisoners who have made a lot of progress, have a good sense of reform, and are classified as having served their prison sentences fairly or well according to the provisions of the law on the execution of criminal sentences, have served at least half of their prison sentences in cases of fixed-term imprisonment, have completed the additional penalties, civil compensation, and court fees according to the provisions of the law.

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Pham Chi Hieu, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, Head of the Steering Committee on amnesty in 2024 of the Provincial Police acknowledged the efforts in reforming the pardoned prisoners.

The Deputy Director of the Provincial Police Department requested that when prisoners return to the community, they need to strictly comply with the Party's guidelines, policies, the State's laws and regulations of the locality where they reside; absolutely do not re-offend, and do not affect the security and order situation of the locality.

Local authorities need to actively participate in the movement of the whole people to participate in preventing and fighting crime and reforming and educating those who have made mistakes in the community, creating conditions to help those who have made mistakes return to their hometowns to have peace of mind, trust, eliminate inferiority complex, avoid illegal acts, quickly stabilize their lives, actively do honest work and become useful people to society.

Previously, in order to support prisoners after being pardoned to return to their localities with identification papers to facilitate transactions, the Provincial Police Detention Center coordinated with the Hai Duong City Police to organize the making of identification cards for prisoners right at the detention facility. After announcing the President's amnesty decision, the Detention Center completed the procedures to issue new identification cards, SIM cards and uniforms to the pardoned people.
