On June 1st, in Rach Gia ward, An Giang Provincial People's Committee organized a meeting and parade to respond to the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control; International Day for Drug Prevention and Control and National Day for Drug Prevention and Control with the theme: "Joining a determination to build communes, wards, and special zones without drugs".
As the core and key force in the fight against crime and drug evils, in the past time, An Giang Provincial Police have proactively advised the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee to implement many key programs, plans, and solutions to improve the effectiveness of drug prevention and control in the area. Professional units of the Provincial Police and grassroots-level Police have strengthened grasping the situation, managing the area and subjects; promoted propaganda and prevention; and at the same time focused on fighting and eliminating complex drug lines, points, and hotspots, contributing to maintaining security and order, and protecting the peaceful life of the people.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Standing Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee emphasized: "Drugs are a threat to all humanity, directly affecting human health, seriously affecting the quality of the nation's race; and at the same time, they are the cause of the emergence and increase of many types of crimes, causing social insecurity and safety. Therefore, drug prevention and control work is always an urgent and long-term task, requiring the drastic involvement of Party committees, authorities, sectors, functional forces and the entire people.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong requested all levels and sectors to continue to promote their roles and responsibilities in drug prevention and control; in which the Provincial Police force needs to continue to play a core role, proactively advise, coordinate, and synchronously deploy professional measures, resolutely fight against drug crimes, strictly manage addicts and illegal drug users, contributing to building safe and healthy areas.
At the same time, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong called on Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations and all people in the province to actively participate in drug prevention and control work; improve vigilance, proactively detect and denounce crimes, join hands with the Police force to build communes, wards, and special zones without drugs, striving to bring An Giang province to complete the goal of building a drug-free area before 2030.
Immediately after the meeting, the forces organized a parade to respond to the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control; International Day for Drug Prevention and Control and National Day for Drug Prevention and Control (June 26) 2026 on the main roads in Rach Gia ward. The activity aims to spread the message of drug prevention and control to a large number of officials, party members and people, contributing to raising awareness and community responsibility in the work of fighting and pushing back the danger of drugs out of social life.
