On October 26, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD), the Provincial Military Command, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command in coordination with Nha Lon Long Son, Long Son Petrochemical Company Limited (LSP), and Vina Logistics Joint Stock Company (VNL) organized the planting of 3,786 trees in the province.
This is an activity in response to the Prime Minister's call towards the goal of "Planting 1 billion trees in the period of 2021-2025 and Zero Net Emissions by 2050". At the same time, implementing the plan "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" launched by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Of which, the Provincial Military Command coordinated with LSP and VNL to plant 2,500 trees in Ba Ria, Chau Duc and Xuyen Moc; the Coast Guard Region 3 Command planted 1,166 trees along the roads in Long Son commune and at the headquarters; and 120 trees were planted at Long Son Big House.
Newly planted trees will play an important role in absorbing CO2 and mitigating climate change, while creating greener spaces for the community.
According to LSP's representative, the environment is one of the top priorities, so in addition to investing in advanced technology for green production, the company has cooperated with local authorities and partners to implement many environmental protection activities, including tree planting.
"With the implemented activities, LSP has so far planted more than 23,200 trees on land and 243,000 trees in mangrove areas, thereby contributing to absorbing about 1,436 tons of CO2 per year," Mr. Rakphon Sooksiri - Director of LSP Upstream Production Department - informed.
