At 02:30 on December 19, the Drug and Crime Prevention Department of Long An Provincial Border Guard and the Economic and Environmental Crime Investigation Police Department (PC03) of Long An Provincial Police co-chaired and coordinated with the Southern Drug and Crime Prevention Task Force, Binh Hiep International Border Gate (CKQT) Border Guard Station and Kien Tuong Town Police to patrol and control the area of Go Dua Hamlet, Binh Hiep Commune, Kien Tuong Town.
Here, the authorities discovered and caught two subjects: Nguyen Duc Hau (28 years old) and Vy Dinh Sy (23 years old, both residing in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City) driving a car with license plate 61C-213.23 transporting firecrackers from the border to Ho Chi Minh City for sale.
Checking the vehicle driven by Vy Dinh Sy, the authorities discovered 16 cardboard boxes and 9 plastic bags containing fireworks inside, with a total weight of 564 kg.

At Binh Hiep International Border Guard Station, the two subjects confessed that they were hired by a person to go to the border area of Binh Hiep commune, Kien Tuong town, Long An province to transport the drugs to Ho Chi Minh City for sale and were paid 5 million VND.
The case is currently being investigated and clarified by the Long An Provincial Police and Border Guard.
According to the Steering Committee 389 of Long An province, in order to ensure security and order during the Lunar New Year 2025, the provincial authorities have been implementing drastic and synchronous solutions to prevent and combat smuggling and trade fraud. In particular, the authorities will strengthen coordination to prevent and combat smuggling and transportation of prohibited goods across the border in the province.
