Commending 5 young men for handing over rare pangolins to functional agencies

Khanh Hoa - Discovering a rare pangolin on the road, 5 young men in Khanh Hoa proactively handed it over to wildlife protection authorities.

On June 1, Dien Lam Commune Police praised the sense of responsibility of 5 young men who voluntarily handed over a rare pangolin to functional agencies for handling according to regulations.

Previously, on May 21, 2026, Mr. Ngo Minh Dang (born 2001, residing in Dien Dien commune), Mr. Tran Quoc Huy (born 2004, residing in Dien Lac commune), Mr. Nguyen The Vinh (born 1999, residing in Ninh Hoa ward), Mr. Vo Van Linh and Mr. Vo Van Huy (both born 1998, residing in Dien Lam commune) while moving on Huong Lo 39 discovered a pangolin in the Phu Coc bridge area.

Recognizing that this is a dangerous, precious, and rare wild animal that needs to be strictly protected according to legal regulations, the group of young people quickly brought the pangolin individual to Dien Lam Commune Police to report and hand it over.

After receiving it, Dien Lam Commune Police conducted an inspection and recorded the initial characteristics of the animal individual. Through preliminary identification, this is a male pangolin, about 60cm long, weighing about 2kg, with basically stable health.

To ensure proper care and preservation according to professional procedures, Dien Lam Commune Police have coordinated to bring the pangolin individual to the Economic Department of Dien Lam Commune People's Committee for reception, management and handling according to assigned functions and tasks.

During the time of receipt, pangolin individuals are monitored, cared for and complete procedures according to regulations on managing endangered, precious and rare wild animals.

By May 29, 2026, the Economic Department of Dien Lam Commune People's Committee has coordinated to hand over the Java pangolin (scientific name Manis javanica) to representatives of Cat Tien National Park to continue rescue, care, conservation and implement re-release to the natural environment according to regulations.

According to Dien Lam Commune Police, the act of voluntarily handing over rare and precious wild animals by the group of young people is a beautiful gesture, showing a sense of responsibility in wildlife protection, environmental protection and strict compliance with the provisions of law.

Functional agencies also recommend that when people discover wild animals, endangered, precious, and rare animals, they should promptly notify or hand them over to functional agencies for receipt and handling in accordance with regulations.
