Make your own fireworks and bring them to school to sell to your friends.
As the Lunar New Year 2025 approaches, violations of the law related to explosives and firecrackers in Binh Dinh province tend to increase and become more complicated, especially among young people.
In just the past 10 days, the police force has discovered and handled a series of cases of illegal buying, storing, manufacturing, and making of fireworks. Notably, among them was a case of students making their own fireworks and bringing them to school to sell to their classmates.
For example, on December 30, 2024, An Nhon Town Police temporarily detained Nguyen Dinh Quang Tien (born 2000, residing in Phu Cat District) for the act of Trading in prohibited goods. For the same act, on January 2, 2025, Tuy Phuoc District Police issued a decision to temporarily detain Huynh Hoang Phi (born 2004, residing in Tuy Phuoc District).
In Van Canh, Tuy Phuoc and Phu My districts, the authorities seized dozens of kilograms of finished fireworks. Notably, on January 2, 2025, through an administrative inspection of the house of Mr. N.A.Q (born in 1973, residing in Binh Duong town, Phu My district), the police discovered that the room of Mr. Q's son, N.T.H (born in 2012), had 60 homemade fireworks.
N.T.H stated that after watching videos on how to make fireworks online, N.T.H and her classmate P.M.H (born in 2012) ordered materials to make fireworks, then brought them to school to sell to their friends.
This situation is not new. More than a year ago (December 31, 2023), in Hoai Nhon town, 4 students of Hoai Thanh Tay Secondary School made their own firecrackers. This process led to an explosion, causing 2 students to suffer severe burns.
Mobile trials of typical cases to set an example
Faced with the above situation, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan directed the heads of agencies, units and localities to enhance their responsibility in managing and using weapons, explosives, explosive materials and fireworks. At the same time, organize for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers to commit not to produce, manufacture, trade, transport, store or illegally use explosives and fireworks.
"The head of any agency, unit or locality that allows officials, civil servants or workers to violate the law must be responsible to the Provincial Chairman," Mr. Pham Anh Tuan requested.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan assigned the Provincial Police to review and make a list of subjects with criminal records, risks, and signs of illegal production, trading, transportation, storage, and use of weapons, explosives, explosives, and firecrackers. Thereby, mobilizing the subjects to sign a commitment not to violate.
Coordinate with Customs, Market Management, Border Guard forces... to inspect complicated routes and areas to detect, arrest and handle cases. At the same time, coordinate with the People's Procuracy and People's Court at the same level to complete the case files, prosecute and try typical cases for general deterrence and education...
"The Department of Education and Training and schools must organize for students to sign a commitment not to buy, sell, transport, store, manufacture and use illegal weapons, explosives, explosives and firecrackers; and handle violations," Mr. Pham Anh Tuan directed.
