Not subjective, negligent
On the afternoon of February 10, the Fire and Rescue Police force of Ca Mau Provincial Police promptly extinguished a fire that occurred in the area of Street No. 2, Hamlet 11, An Xuyen ward. The incident did not cause any casualties but continued to sound the alarm about the risk of fire and explosion in prolonged dry weather conditions. Especially the carelessness and negligence of people in the days leading up to the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026.

At about 2:50 PM, the fire broke out due to people arbitrarily burning grass while cleaning. Encountering strong winds, the fire quickly spread. Immediately upon receiving the news, functional forces mobilized 3 fire trucks and many officers and soldiers to the scene. After about 20 minutes of deploying firefighting plans, the fire was completely controlled.
Functional agencies believe that spontaneous burning of grass and garbage in the dry season is a potential cause of fire spreading, especially in residential areas. The Fire Prevention and Fighting force recommends that people absolutely do not burn grass and garbage, and do not be subjective in using heat sources to avoid unfortunate consequences.
From the above reality, Ca Mau Provincial Police continue to promote fire and explosion prevention work, identifying this as a key task to protect the safety of people's lives and property during Tet.
Identifying the department as the main one, the police force from the province to the grassroots level has strengthened propaganda on legal regulations and fire prevention and fighting skills to each household and business household. The content focuses on using electricity, gas, safe heat sources; how to handle situations when a fire or explosion occurs and escape skills.
Diverse forms of propaganda are deployed such as direct propaganda, distribution of leaflets, panels, posters, propaganda posters; through newspapers, social networks and SMS messages to spread information and raise community awareness.
At the same time, functional forces regularly organize fire fighting, rescue and relief drills at markets, shopping centers, hotels, accommodation establishments and points with high fire and explosion risks.
When directed by police officers, my family understands more clearly the risks of fire and explosion and proactively complies with fire safety regulations," said Mr. Pham Van Hung - owner of a business establishment at Lang Tron market.
Tighten inspection and protection of forests during peak season
Along with residential areas and business establishments, forest fire prevention and fighting (PCCCR) work is being drastically implemented by Ca Mau province during the peak dry season and the Lunar New Year. On February 11, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ca Mau province issued a document requesting localities and forest owners to strengthen forest protection before, during and after Binh Ngo Tet 2026.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, units need to review and supplement PCCCR plans; strengthen inspection, patrol, and strict control of forest management and protection, to prevent the situation of taking advantage of Tet to destroy forests and illegally exploit forest products.
The Ca Mau Provincial Forest Protection Department is assigned to direct forest rangers, mobile forest ranger teams and PCCCR to inspect safety conditions in key forest areas; review and supplement fire fighting equipment and vehicles, ensuring readiness to handle incidents.

Mr. Phan Minh Chi - Deputy Director of Ca Mau Department of Agriculture and Environment - said that the time before, during and after Tet is a sensitive period, the risk of forest fires is high due to the peak dry season entering. Functional forces have been directed to strengthen propaganda, patrol, promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle violations.
According to the Ca Mau Provincial Forest Protection Department, the whole province currently has more than 160,000 hectares of forestry land, of which the area of forests and land with forests is over 92,000 hectares, mainly concentrated in U Minh Ha and the coastal mangrove forest strip. With a large forest area and wide distribution, PCCCR work is determined to be proactive from the beginning of the season to minimize the risk of forest fires.
During the peak period from December 15, 2025 to date, Ca Mau Provincial Police have organized 693 fire safety inspections, handling 54 violations with a total fine of 147 million VND.
