Accordingly, in the past 24 hours, the weather in Cao Bang province has been cloudy, with light showers in many places and light winds. Rainfall recorded from 7pm on May 27 to 7am on May 28 was generally from 5 to 10mm, some places were higher such as Thach Lam (Bao Lam district) reaching 12.6mm.
It is forecasted that from this evening (May 28) to the evening of May 29, due to the influence of a compressed low pressure trough combined with an elevated wind convergence at an altitude of about 1,500m, areas in the province will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms.
During thunderstorms, there is a potential risk of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Rainfall is expected to be generally from 40 - 70mm, some places may exceed 100mm.
From the night of May 29, the province will continue to have showers and thunderstorms, with common rainfall from 10 to 20 mm. The warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain is level 1.
Prolonged heavy rain can cause landslides in mountainous areas, affecting agricultural production due to water-soluble land, flooded or broken crops.
At the same time, thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can cause damage to houses, trees, traffic works and technical infrastructure.
Heavy rain also risks overloading the drainage system, leading to flooding in residential areas, obstructing traffic, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of accidents on roads.
