Long An Chairman visits Japan to call for cooperation and investment

Long An - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee continues to lead a working delegation with many important partners in Japan to invite cooperation and investment in Long An.

Information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Long An on February 4 said that on April 2, the Long An province working delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Van Ut - Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee - continued to have an important working program in Ibaraki province, Japan, to promote cooperation in the field of high-tech agriculture.

The delegation had a working session with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Ibaraki, the Vietnam - Ibaraki Friendship Association and member enterprises, and representatives of the Ibaraki Agricultural Association (JA). The meeting was attended by Ms. Yachie Yamaguchi - President of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Ibaraki Province - former Deputy Governor of Ibaraki Province; Mr. Kawachi Akira - Director of JETRO Ibaraki and over 20 Japanese enterprises.

At the meeting, Japanese enterprises expressed their interest in investing in Long An in the coming time. In addition, the two provinces have had programs to send Vietnamese workers to work in Ibaraki province in the past, thereby promoting the training of highly skilled workers.

In the discussion with the Ibaraki Agriculture Association (JA), Ms. Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh - Deputy Director of Long An Department of Agriculture and Environment - introducing the potential and strengths of the province, especially the orientation of developing high -tech agricultural applications, improving export value; Emphasizing the opportunity to cooperate between the two sides of the plant variety, advanced farming technology and agricultural processing.

A representative of the Ibaraki Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association informed about Ibaraki's model and operation of the agricultural production system, experiences and successful models from planting to consumption, expressing their desire to promote trade and technology transfer between businesses of both sides.

Earlier, the mission visited and worked with IHI Group in Tokyo (Japan). Mr. Truong Van Loi - Director of Long An Department of Finance - informed about the investment orientation of 6 dynamic axes of the province under the planning of Long An province in the period of 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2050. These dynamic axes include the arterial transport system connecting Long An with Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces in the South, contributing to creating an important driving force for the region's traffic connection.

At the meeting, representatives of IHI Group's leadership expressed their desire to cooperate and invest in transportation projects in Long An. Accordingly, IHI plans to cooperate in constructing National Highway 1 and a number of other important routes in Long An. The Group has proposed applying advanced technical solutions to fix soft soil, helping to increase the durability and load-bearing capacity of the project.

On the same day, the working group arrived at the headquarters of Feager Group. This is a pioneer in the field of decarbonised agriculture, specializing in supporting businesses and farmers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, converting them into internationally recognized carbon credits.

In Vietnam, the group has researched and supported the implementation of many emission reduction models in agricultural production, helping farmers apply advanced technology to improve efficiency and increase income from carbon credits.

At the meeting, the group committed to technical support, farmer training and connecting with international organizations to promote carbon credit transactions, bringing new sources of income to the local agricultural sector. Both sides hope that the project will contribute to shaping the trend of environmentally friendly production, making Long An a leading locality in applying green agricultural technology, while opening up opportunities for deeper cooperation between the province and international partners in the above field.

Japan is currently the 4th country in terms of the number of projects and total FDI investment capital in Long An with 161 projects, with a total capital of more than 1.3 billion USD. To date, Long An has attracted 1,512 projects with a total capital of over 14.3 billion USD, ranking in the top 10 provinces and cities nationwide in attracting investment.
