On June 5, Dak Lak Provincial Police said that the Internal Political Security Department of the Provincial Police has coordinated with Ea Kao Ward Police to work with Y.V on the act of posting unverified information on social networks, affecting the reputation of the Police force.
Through verification, Y.V. admitted to self-compiling, posting and sharing unfounded, unverified content to attract attention and increase interaction on social networks. This information has negatively impacted the image and prestige of the Police force.
At the police station, Y.V realized his violation, voluntarily removed all the posted content, and committed not to re-offend. Currently, the case is being further consolidated by functional agencies to handle according to the provisions of law.
Through the case, Dak Lak Provincial Police recommends that people when participating in social networks need to raise their awareness of law compliance, proactively verify information before posting or sharing; only receive and spread information from official, reliable sources.
According to current regulations, the act of providing and sharing false information, untrue information, distorting, slandering or insulting the prestige of agencies, organizations, honor, and dignity of individuals may be subject to administrative penalties of 5-10 million VND for individuals.
In case the violation is serious, causing adverse effects on security and order or infringing upon the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals, the violator may also be considered for criminal prosecution according to the provisions of the Penal Code.
