Hanoi - Faced with the complicated developments of the weather, the City Police issued an important warning to the people.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from August 20, Hanoi city is likely to experience localized heavy rain causing localized flooding, affecting people's travel and daily life; at the same time, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, increasing the risk of broken and fallen green trees, billboards, architectural structures and works being damaged and collapsed.

Faced with the above situation, to proactively prevent and minimize damage to people and property, the Fire and Rescue Police Department - Hanoi City Police recommends that people well implement some of the following contents:

Proactively prevent when there is heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning

Regularly update information, weather developments and warnings from functional agencies through loudspeakers, radio, text messages and official media to proactively respond.

When there are thunderstorms and lightning, people should stay in solid houses, close windows and doors; they should remove plugs and turn off unnecessary electrical appliances.

Do not shelter from rain or thunderstorms under tall trees, near power poles, antenna poles, metal pillars or locations at risk of breaking or falling. Do not hold or use metal objects while outdoors during thunderstorms.

Limit going out when it rains heavily, thunderstorms; choose a safe and solid shelter. When outdoors, quickly find a safe shelter instead of trying to continue moving.

Prevention and handling when flooding occurs

When staying indoors in areas at risk of flooding, it is necessary to remain calm, stay still, and quickly turn off the power switch to prevent the risk of electric shock, short circuit, fire, or explosion.

Proactively prepare items, papers and essential items; be ready to evacuate when requested or ordered by functional agencies.

When traveling outdoors, do not enter areas that are deeply flooded, with strong currents, or where the depth and road boundary cannot be determined.

When driving, absolutely do not try to pass through deeply flooded roads, unclear road boundaries or road sections at risk of landslides.

In case vehicles are trapped due to flooding, it is necessary to remain calm, find a way to escape from the vehicle as soon as possible when conditions permit; call 114 for support from the Fire and Rescue Police force when necessary.

Proactively prevent the risk of broken and fallen green trees, falling and collapsing architectural structures

When there is heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, people should not stand, sit or take shelter from rain under large green trees, near power poles, billboards, canopies, temporary structures and architectural structures at risk of breaking and collapsing.

When traveling on the road, proactively stay away from areas with large trees, billboards, works, power lines or objects at risk of falling, breaking, and falling.

For households, agencies, and businesses, proactively inspect and reinforce corrugated iron roofs, canopies, doors, billboards and parts that are easily broken and fallen before heavy rain and storms occur.

When detecting works, walls, roofs or items showing signs of unsafety, it is necessary to quickly leave the dangerous area, warn people around and notify functional agencies for handling.

When an collapse occurs, it is necessary to remain calm, protect your head with your hands, backpack or objects that can shield; quickly move to a safe location such as the corner of the house or below objects that can shield.

When an incident or accident occurs or people are found in need of assistance, people need to quickly call 114 to the Fire and Rescue Police force; provide accurate information about the location of the incident, the number of victims, the current situation and other necessary information for functional forces to promptly deploy vehicles and rescue forces.
