On May 7, Lao Cai Provincial Police said that Bac Ha Commune Police promptly supported people to verify and successfully returned 5 million VND of mistaken transfers in a short time, thereby continuing to spread the beautiful image of grassroots police forces dedicated to serving the People.
At about 3:48 PM on May 5, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen (born 1958, residing in Bac Ha 3 village, Bac Ha commune) came to Bac Ha Commune Police to report that her Agribank bank account suddenly received 5 million VND from a strange account named "Dam Thi Minh Tham".
According to Ms. Huyen, at about 2:04 PM on the same day, she received a notification that her account was transferred 5 million VND with the content: "MB(308067) (DAM THI MINH THAM transferred money)". Because she did not know the transferor and was worried about confusion, she proactively went to the Commune Police to ask for support in verifying to return the above amount.
Immediately after receiving the information, Lieutenant Hoang Ngoc Duc - a duty officer of Bac Ha Commune Police reported to the unit's leaders, and quickly coordinated with Agribank Bank - Bac Ha Transaction Office to verify the account holder of the money transfer.
In just a few minutes, functional forces identified the transferor as Ms. Dam Thi Minh Tham (born 1972, residing in the same Bac Ha 3 village, Bac Ha commune). Through contact, Ms. Tham confirmed that due to negligence in the transaction process, she mistakenly transferred 5 million VND to Ms. Huyen's account.
Because she was far away and could not come to work directly, Ms. Tham requested the Commune Police to support and guide procedures for Ms. Huyen to return the above amount. At about 3:56 pm on the same day, with the support of Bac Ha Commune Police officers, Ms. Huyen completed the full return of 5 million VND to Ms. Tham.
After receiving the mistakenly transferred money back, Ms. Tham sent thanks to Ms. Huyen and the Bac Ha Commune Police for their quick and responsible support.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen also expressed her satisfaction with the dedicated and close-to-people spirit of grassroots police officers in supporting people to resolve incidents promptly and in accordance with regulations.
According to Lao Cai Provincial Police, although the incident is small, it continues to show the important role of the commune-level police force in grasping the local situation and supporting people to solve problems arising right from the grassroots level.
