On August 23, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of the People's Committee of Hai Tien Commune, Ninh Binh Province confirmed that a tragic drowning incident occurred in the commune, killing 1 student and leaving 1 student missing.
Initial information is that at around 1:00 p.m. the same day (8.23), 3 students, N.D.Kh, N.P.T and N.D.K, all residing in Hai Tien commune, rode their bicycles to the sea dike area of the old Hai Chinh commune (now Hai Tien commune) to swim in the sea.
While all 3 were swimming, N.D.K saw the other 2 friends swept away by the waves and ran to shore to call for help.
After that, local people came to the rescue but could only bring N.P.T to shore, but T had died. N.D.Kh was swept away by the waves and went missing.
As of the evening of August 23, the local authorities were still coordinating with the family to actively search for N.D.Kh.
