According to Hai Phong Electricity, recently, many customers across the country, including customers in Hai Phong, have reported that their electricity bills in June 2025 have increased compared to previous months.
Hai Phong Electricity explains that the increase in electricity bills comes from many objective and subjective factors in the process of using electricity, especially in harsh weather conditions...
June 2025 with extreme, severe and unusually long hot spells. Outdoor temperatures in Hai Phong are often maintained at 37-39 degrees Celsius, with some days reaching over 40 degrees Celsius. The Hai Phong power system has had to meet an unprecedented high load. Specifically, at 2:30 p.m. on June 2, the city's electricity consumption capacity peaked at 1,734 MW, 6.6% higher than the peak in 2024. Electricity consumption is up to 34,820,235 kWh, the highest daily consumption ever.
In such harsh weather conditions, cooling equipment such as air conditioners, refrigerators, fans, water pumps, etc. must operate at higher capacity, lasting longer than usual, leading to more electricity consumption. At the same time, coinciding with the time students have a summer vacation, staying at home all day has significantly increased the demand for electrical equipment of households.
Many customers often compare this month's invoices with the previous month or with other households. However, to have a correct assessment, customers should compare electricity output with the same period last year and in similar equipment and weather conditions.
In order to help customers be more proactive in using electricity, limiting the situation of increased invoices, Hai Phong Power Company recommends that people apply a number of measures such as: Limiting the simultaneous use of many electrical equipment during peak hours (13:15) and evening (20:0023); adjust the air conditioning temperature appropriately, maintain from 26 degrees Celsius or more, combined with the use of fans and heat shields for the house. turn off all electrical equipment when not in use, especially equipment that consumes a lot of electricity such as hot air balloons, microwaves, solders, etc.
Customers regularly and periodically maintain and clean cooling and cooling equipment and proactively shop for electrical equipment with energy-saving labels issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. At the same time, track the daily electricity consumption index on EVNNPC's Customer Care application or via SMS/email to adjust usage habits.
