FPT Play and the Vietnam Basketball Federation (VBF) have just signed a 3-year strategic cooperation agreement (2026-2028), aiming to improve the quality of organization, production and communication for the National Basketball Championship system, and at the same time spread the image of Vietnamese basketball to a wide range of fans.
According to the agreement, from 2026, FPT Play will become a sponsor and media sponsor for all tournaments belonging to the national championship system organized by VBF. This unit will exclusively produce and broadcast tournaments on multiple platforms such as IPTV, OTT and social networks, helping viewers easily follow on many devices.
The cooperation is considered a suitable step in the context of sports shifting strongly to digital platforms. FPT Play plans to promote the application of technology in content production, while developing interactive and personalized features to enhance viewer experience.
Previously, FPT Play participated in broadcasting the Vietnam Professional Basketball Tournament (VBA), attracting great attention from young audiences. Expanding cooperation with VBF helps complete the basketball content ecosystem, covering from youth tournaments to team and professional levels.
On the VBF side, long-term cooperation not only contributes to solving the broadcasting problem but also expands opportunities to reach audiences, especially young people, and at the same time strengthens the promotion of the national team's image.
It is expected that in 2026, the tournament system organized by VBF will include championships for strong teams and youth tournaments U16, U18, U20 in both 5x5 and 3x3 events, taking place in many localities such as Khanh Hoa, Hue, Da Nang, Tay Ninh and Gia Lai. This is an important foundation to discover and train successor athletes.
In addition, the two sides will also coordinate communication for the Vietnamese basketball team when participating in tournaments belonging to the system of the World Basketball Federation (FIBA), towards the goal of sustainable development in the coming time.
