Travel demand at the end of the year, especially New Year's Day and Lunar New Year, often increases sharply. Faced with this reality, Hanoi City has directed bus stations and passenger transport businesses to proactively plan to ensure safety, serving the travel needs of people.
According to the plan to improve order, traffic safety and improve the quality of passenger service during holidays and Tet, the authorities have coordinated with bus stations and transportation businesses to sign a commitment. In particular, it requires fixed route transport units not to run in the wrong channel or route; not to carry more seats than the prescribed number; ensure absolute safety on each trip.
Information from Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company said that all vehicles entering and leaving the station are strictly controlled, ensuring that they meet the operating conditions according to the provisions of law. Bus stations have fully prepared inspection and supervision stages inside and outside the stations, contributing to ensuring smooth traffic in the area during peak season.
A representative of Duc Phat International Transport Company (Thanh Hoa) said that before each departure, the vehicle must ensure 100% of its documents, the driver must be trained in traffic safety, strictly comply with regulations when participating in traffic, and not use alcohol or phones while driving. The enterprise maintains the arrangement of 2 drivers/vehicle to ensure safe driving time and health for drivers.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, the Director of Giap Bat Bus Station said that the New Year, Lunar New Year and Binh Ngo Spring Festival 2026 are the peak periods of the year. It is expected that the number of passengers passing through the wharf may increase by about 300% compared to normal days. To meet the demand, the bus station has developed a plan to increase about 250 vehicles/day (an increase of 25%), arrange 100% of the working force, and coordinate with functional forces to ensure security, order, fire prevention and fighting and food safety and hygiene.
In addition, the authorities also coordinated with bus stations and bus companies to step up propaganda work, pasting propaganda targets on 100% of fixed-route passenger vehicles.
Along with fines, traffic police will increase the direct handling of violations in passenger transport activities. Currently, the camera system applying AI technology has been installed on many streets of the capital, contributing to improving the effectiveness of monitoring and handling violations.
In addition, bus station management units will resolutely refuse to serve bus companies with poor service quality, not meeting management requirements, affecting the image and reputation of the fixed passenger transport network.
