Since the beginning of 2024, a number of forest fires have occurred in Hai Duong province, typically the forest fire in An Phu ward, Kinh Mon town on October 5 and in Pha Lai ward, Chi Linh city on December 28.
The cause is due to the prolonged dry weather, combined with the increase in sources of fire-causing materials due to broken, fallen, uprooted, and dead trees after storm No. 3 Yagi that have not been collected, salvaged, or liquidated.
In order to proactively manage, protect forests and prevent and fight forest fires, minimizing the number of cases and area of forest fires, especially the forest area around historical sites, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province requested units to urgently clean up and collect broken, fallen, dead trees, vegetation and flammable materials around historical sites in Chi Linh city and Kinh Mon town.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province requested that forest protection, forest fire prevention and fighting be identified as the key and continuous tasks during the peak period of forest fires; absolutely must not be subjective, negligent, or lose vigilance.
Regularly monitor and promptly provide forecasts and warnings of forest fire risks, regulations on fire use in forests and forest edges, and forest fire situations on local radio and television systems so that local Party committees, authorities, forest owners, relic management boards, and people can grasp and take the initiative in forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting.
Inspect, urge and strictly control the use of fire in and near forests by people, temporarily stop using fire to treat vegetation; strictly handle acts of using fire that risk causing forest fires during peak periods when the risk of forest fires is high.
The Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee also requested to review local plans and solutions for forest fire prevention and fighting, and arrange forces, means, materials, and funding for forest fire prevention and fighting.
Assign forces to be on duty 24/7 during the dry season; arrange checkpoints and patrols in key areas prone to forest fires; strictly control people entering and exiting forest areas at high risk of forest fires; promptly detect fire spots and mobilize forces to control and extinguish forest fires in the shortest time possible.
